Munir’deen Aderemi Ijaiya is a Professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, faculty of clinical sciences, University of Ilorin, and a Consultant Obstetrician and Gynaecologist at University of Ilorin Teaching Hospital, Nigeria. He holds an MB.BS degree from the Ahmadu Bello University Zaria (1989), a Doctor of Medicine, a fellowship of the West African College of Surgeons (1999), a Diploma in Reproductive Health from LSTM, Liverpool, and a Master of Public Health. He is a Harvard-certified clinical researcher (GCSRT Harvard). Furthermore, Ijaiya is a renowned fistula surgeon with over 125 publications to his credit; he invented and patented “the use of posterior lip of cervix for juxtacervical vesicovaginal fistula closure (M. Ijaiya’s technique)”. He is a recipient of several awards and scholarships including 2015 John Sciarra International Journal of Gynaecology & Obstetrics prize for the best Clinical research article from a Low / Middle-Income Country. Ijaiya is a Royal college of Obstetricians & Gynaecologists scholar, Ford foundation, and Harvard Medical School scholar. He is a fellow of the Nigeria Academy of Medicine. Ijaiya was appointed a full professor in 2014.
